A note from Paul
I wanted the opposite.
If you look after a community, you already know how hard it is to find products you feel good about sharing.
With “Time Is Luck” I wanted to create the simplest way to genuinely help people grow and take action on their most important goals in life.
I built the first three or four versions for myself, after years of reading about procrastination and resistance. The discovery that changed everything for me was Luca Dellanna’s research into the basal ganglia and expected emotional outcome (the part of the brain that decides whether a plan gets approved for action, and how that process works).
A lot of what we call agency, free will, and discipline is this gate blocking or approving our actions. It is not trying to harm us. It is just trying to keep us safe, based on how it perceives the task we are proposing.
The method in the app is aimed at one thing: tipping the scales toward action. Giving you leverage on the tasks you want to do, but find yourself struggling to start.
So I tried to turn the theory into a practice. A tool with enough complexity to be effective, but simple enough that I would use it when I was struggling to push through my own boundaries.
It worked. So I shared it, and it worked for others. Now I hope it works for you and your audience.
